Champions League final 2027 in Madrid: planning from Zurich
5 June 2027, 6pm, at the Metropolitano: tickets, the UEFA ballot, Zurich – Madrid flights and hotels. How to start preparing for the Madrid final now.
No club has won three Champions Leagues in a row since Real Madrid between 2016 and 2018. If PSG, winners in 2025 and 2026, want to match that, the final happens to be in Madrid: on Saturday 5 June 2027, at the Metropolitano. It is far too early to talk about reaching it, but not too early to plan. Tickets, flights and hotels for a final are often settled months in advance.
Date, time and venue of the 2027 final
The final will be played at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, Atlético Madrid's stadium in the Rosas district in the north-east of the city. It holds around 70,000 and already hosted the 2019 final, when Liverpool beat Tottenham. Madrid was not UEFA's first choice: the game was meant for Milan, which dropped out because of planned works at San Siro.
How to get a ticket for the final
There are two official routes, and only two:
- UEFA's public ballot. It opens in spring 2027 on uefa.com/tickets, for a few thousand "neutral" seats. It is not first come, first served: applications are drawn at random after the window closes, usually with a maximum of two tickets per person. Demand always far outstrips supply.
- The finalists' allocations. Each finalist receives a large share of the seats and sells them to its own fans. If PSG reach the final, sales will go through the club's official ticketing platform, with priority for season-ticket holders and the most loyal members.
Tickets are mobile only, in the UEFA Mobile Tickets app, and personalised. For a fan based in Switzerland, the routine is the same as for a league-phase away game: keep your PSG ticketing account up to date and switch on notifications. Resale offers already circulating at several thousand euros come from neither UEFA nor the club.
Flights: direct from Zurich to Madrid
SWISS and Iberia fly direct from Zurich to Madrid in just over two hours. From Basel, easyJet also serves Madrid several times a week. Prices for a final weekend follow one simple rule: they explode as soon as the finalists are known, in early May. Two strategies make sense:
- Book a changeable or refundable fare early, pay a little more, and cancel if Paris go out.
- Watch prices without booking, then buy on the night PSG qualify, knowing fares will already have risen.
With a 6pm Saturday kick-off, flying out on Friday and back on Sunday is the most comfortable option. A day trip is possible on paper, but leaves no margin for delays or extra time.
Accommodation: book cancellable, now
Madrid hotels are already publishing their June rates. A room with free cancellation, booked today, costs a fraction of what will be asked after the semi-finals. Aim for the centre or a neighbourhood on metro line 7, which runs to Estadio Metropolitano station, right by the ground. From Barajas airport, the metro reaches the centre in about forty minutes.
The road map to the final
- Now: cancellable hotel room, up-to-date PSG ticketing account, passport or ID valid until June 2027.
- End of January: the league phase ends. PSG need a top-eight finish to avoid the February play-offs.
- Spring 2027: UEFA's public ballot opens on uefa.com/tickets. Applying costs nothing.
- Early May: semi-finals. If PSG go through, club ticket sales follow, then flights if not already booked.
- Saturday 5 June, 6pm: kick-off at the Metropolitano.
Or watch it together?
Not everyone will get a ticket. For finals and big European nights, the club organises watch parties for members, listed in the events calendar.
